this short, richly hand-embroidered vest made of black velvet is part of the “Djilli kurdi”, the traditional clothing in northern Iraq and other Kurdistani regions.
Whether traditionally to the long glitter garment, as a costume or as a pepper to “modern” clothes – this vest always goes!
The vest was sewn and lovingly and imaginatively embroidered by my neighbours from hand, with glittering “stones”, Rocailles, glass beads and other bead mix.
